I'm not sure what's scarier. That I set it up, or that I just documented it. I really must reign in my desire to tinker more.

Coo. Any plausible inexpensive mixing desk recommendations, or should I just go down to the Digital Village and have a poke? (really must also ask my colleague who's a l33t audio type in his spare time...)

I have a Behringer UB802, which seems to be a fairly nice hobbyist deck. Digtal Village seem to have good prices, so I'd certainly recommend anyone in Cambridge buy from there for the support. The UB1002 is the next model up and not much more expensive, but the 802 did everything I needed. Therre's a cheaper 502 (which seems a bit limited, and isn't much less than the 802) and a more expensive one at the top of the range.

When it comes to audio equipment, I am not a stats nerd, so I can't say how well it performs. I paid under 50 pounds for the UB802.

Um, doesn't everyone do a schematic of their home audio/video setup?

No. Not everyone.
