one.tel has a package for the same price as Virgin with a 6 hr cutoff time.

Eat my dust, Virgin.

(I know one.tel's reputation for clue is not high, but since all I require from them is working dialup, there's hopefully little they can do to futz that up. Also I can always go back to Virgin if it doesn't work out.)

In other news, Merlin still needs strangling, The Pirates of the Carribean DVD extras are actually a good solid couple of hours of entertainment, and Bubblegum Crisis is ... odd. But then, it's anime.

Their billing system sucks monkey nuts. Check your bills monthly. Other than that, they've been considered very good for broadband, and decent enough for dialup, from what I know. I wrote quite a chunk of the online ordering system, but don't blame me - I didn't *design* it ;)

I think your terrible experience working for them was what made me most nervous about them. The online ordering system worked flawlessly for me though.

Interestingly my ssh connection established at 1am or so this morning is still alive now.

ssh connection

You'd expect that of an idle TCP connection in the absence of NAT braindamage even with transient connectivity.

Re: ssh connection

It's a NATed connection.

I bet it hasn't changed since I left; a few weeks after I did, the PHP contractor (the other one working on that system) also quit. Heh. That's actually what I was working on when they cancelled my holiday over Christmas while Scott had 5 weeks off on Oz.

To be fair, they're dreadful to work for, and they can't bill for phone calls correctly 75% of the time, but the online customer service system rocks, and the internet side (as long as you don't have to ask technical questions of the tech support team, or recognise bollocks when you hear it) is pretty reliable.

Oh, "decorated" the rug again.

That means the litter trays need cleaning out.

Something to look forwards to when I get home...

When should I expect you back, btw?

Thursday night.

You know, it really is a lot less unpleasant cleaning out the litter boxes than it is having poo lurking on the carpet for four days...

Believe it or not, that much had occurred to me. Unfortunately as of yet I still haven't been able to work myself up to doing anything about it though. My issues with litterboxes appear to have more in common with phobia than with distaste.

And thanks (of a sort) are due to Cirrus for providing a final boost of excellent motivation by pissing underneath my bed. Combined with the realisation that I was, in fact, allowed to wear gloves, I've managed to clean up the piss, the carpet, and all the litter trays. I haven't replaced the litter, since there still looked to be a lot left, but I think I've cleaned out the solids at least.

Well done!

<applause>

And how is my favourite separation anxiety cat...

Re: Well done!

He and his brother are both spending a lot of time in your room. I seem to be gradually training Merlin out of charging them when ever I fuss them too.
