Hectic but rewarding weekend
So this weekend, I have acted in a play at Maelstrom, and sung Beethoven's 9th at the Royal Festival Hall as well as some other pieces. It's been stressful and expensive, but definitely worth doing.

However, my freezer is now full of ice, to the extent I can't close the door properly or open any of the drawers. I'm somewhat at a loss as to how this happened, or indeed what to do about it.

Sounds like time to defrost!

Though I'm astonished it's iced up so quickly.

Got enough ice out to close the door.

I literally think it iced up over the weekend. I may have left the door ajar, but where did all the water come from, exactly?

Well, it's been humid as hell this weekend...

Maybe you left it slightly ajar?

My freezer occasionally does this - there's a nasty feedback cycle once some ice develops whereby it suddenly ices up so much the door can't be closed.

I take everything out, put it into the fridge, turn the freezer off and attempt to mop up the puddles (if nothing else it makes me clean the utility room floor).

All fridges/freezers do this if you leave the door ajar. Take out what you want to save into a coolbag, and if it's still solid when the defrost cycle is done, you're good...

The ice is just moisture, condensed from the air.

We defrosted our freezer today. It actually only took about half an hour, with me carefully pouring warm water over the worst bits of ice (we left the tray in so the water got caught) and _alanna using her hairdryer to melt the bits that couldn't be poured over.
