Why are salespeople always so crap?
Me: I'm interested in the Giant Expression N7 - do you have one I can test ride?
Them: Afraid not. It's a special order item. However, you can test ride one of our other Expressions.
Me: But that's got different gears and brakes.
Them: It's OK. It rides the same.
Me: That bike has a suspension fork on it - the N7 doesn't.
Them: Well we can set that to disabled, and then it'll be the same.

Ah, the fragrant smell of salesman bullshit. There is no way that test riding that bike will tell me how the brakes and gears on the N7 handle. Since I'm paying extra money for good brakes and gears, I really don't want to buy one without at least trying them out. Should I just give up now, do you think?

In other news, I am currently obsessed with the soundtrack to "Repo: The Genetic Opera", particularly "Zydrate Anatomy". ("Zydrate Anatomy?" "Zydrate Anatomy.") The film itself is a load of old bollocks, but great fun, although whoever was responsible for the transfer on the DVD soundtrack needs bloody shooting.

If this is the nice cycloanalysts who you put me on to I'd say it's worth ordering the bike because they have a decent returns policy.

Having spoken to them again today - they have indeed confirmed my suspicion that my current bike, while safe for the moment, is not long for this world - they have agreed that they will try to get me a test ride on one, and will let me know by Monday if they can arrange it. So I am somewhat mollified.

Why? because we'd much rather be doing something rewarding, but people like you got all the good jobs.

Because 99% of the work we do acheives absolutely nothing.

Because 99% of the people we deal with, externally and from other departments in our own companies treat us like scum.

And of course it's the salesperson's fault that there's no stock for you to test and idiotic of him to try and come up with a solution quickly for you.

Just to make it clear, I don't have an issue with the fact that the salesman couldn't provide a test bike, my issue is the fact that he tried to convince me it didn't matter when it did.
