Is it worth seeing? And if so can anyone lend me a copy?

I rather liked it, but it's very much a big screen film. The first five mnutes in the cinema were the only sequence to raise my heart rate above resting in any film I saw that year.

Err good movie..... My copy is in Warwickshire and I doubt that we will run into each other any time soon...

could post if you have no luck in finding some one closer

Coincidently, I just watched that for the first time this weekend.

There are some nice touches, like the Riddick character, however it's not a desperately original basic plot, an irritatingly badly thought-out alien ecosystem, and some plot-holes to drive a bus through.

Not too bad, but nothing special.

Definitely worth seeing. It does a good treatment of survival monster horror without copping out with gore or cheap monster effects (you hardly ever see them). And Mr Diesel does do very well in it.

Well, I rather like it.

Do I not have a copy?

Not that I know of. I suspect I'd have watched it if you did.

Hmm. I know two_nukes has a copy, but I also know I've watched it twice. I wonder when the other time was, if it wasn't me buying it for myself...

I am the rare one that didn't like the film...
bad plot, bad characterization, in some cases even bad acting. Quite a yawn for a "horror" flick. However if you are a fan of Vin Disel, see it...he's rather yummy in the film and the only redeeming quality IMO.

Largely my curiosity is a result of wondering what all the fuss about Vin Diesel actually is.

If it's the curiousity about Vin Diesel, I'd reccommend either Knockaround guys, xXx, or Fast and the Furious. All are much better movies.

I liked Pitch Black a lot more than the others, maybe because he's basically the villain, at least at first and to me he does that better than playing heroes.
Like Arnie, he shouldn't talk much.

Christi, I have it taped on video and could post that to you, if that's any help to you.

However, if I tell you that the monsters are the final stage of the Clanger life cycle, it will totally ruin it for you.

So I won't.

Points in favour; cast and characters are not exclusively American. Well realised setting (with some reservations - see below). Amoral hero.

Points against: hero is played by Vin Diesel when several perfectly good wooden objects auditioned for the part. Hordes of carnivorous monsters live on a planet largely devoid of life.

I've got it on DVD if you've not found an alternate source.

yes - huuuge plot holes, so-so characters and acting, but Riddick is kinda cute and the aliens are very cool.

FWIW I really liked it. For very nice visuals and a much more differentiated and better done supporting cast. And I do drool over Vin Diesel.
