Now I understand why the bread machine has a seperate wholegrain programme. It may take 5 hours, but it produces deliciously fluffy bread with a wonderfully crisp crust.

Aaaaaagggghhhhh! That is torture for everyone else in the house! The smell of newly-baked wholemeal bread makes everyone *starving* all the time.
