I am speechless - Her Most Regal Majesty, the Queen of Snark

I am speechless
So having done all of the fun parts of setting up The Project, I now need to set up a webserver. To this end, at mobbsy's suggestion, I've installed Ubuntu Linux. The experience was surreal. It asked me no questions that Windows doesn't also ask, and configured X, Gnome, TT font support and sound flawlessly without any intervention from me. On a laptop. And underneath it all is the rock solid Debian infrastructure.

So, Ubuntu - it's like Debian, but with all the crap bits, and stupid geek arguments, removed. It really looks like Linux might actually be ready for the desktop finally.

I found Knoppix quite impressive too - Linux on a bootable CD - useful for borrowing someone's machine without affecting their setup or install.
