So just exactly how badly does a party have to misbehave in order to get chucked out ignonimously by the oh so apathetic British electorate?

Lib Dems have just got over 50 seats, so some cheerful news at least.

Still no result in Henley, but two (proportionally) larger swings towards the Lib Dems have already happened. Please, can I not have a frothing lunatic as my MP any more?

ETA There goes Henley. Arse. Looks like a whole bunch of labour voters defected to mad Boris. WTF?

But Boris is quite fabulous (says the dyed-in-the-wool LibDem). I'm almost sad his dad didn't win, but as it was a LibDem/Conservative close marginal, I'm glad we retained it really.

It is curious that the British don't actually get off their arses and object when the government pisses around. I can't tell whether I should think of it as apathy and the "mustn't grumble" culture or an admirable stoicism, really..
