Oh! My! Goddess!
My desktop is incredibly clear and bright, no dead pixels, and 1920x1200. I can see my mail and my browser at the same time. The Dell 2405fpw monitor is so much better than I'd imagined, and words fail me when I try to convey how seriously cool it is having my desktop fill my entire field of vision and yet still be able to see every part of it clearly. Given my sight problems, this is unheard of. Is it legal to marry a flatpanel display?

If you take it to bed, I will deny ever having known you. ;oP

You don't have to marry it if you've bought it.

If you marry it, we'd be in-laws!

(Yes, I've just plugged its sister in over here, and I concur with everything you say. It's wonderful. I've got World of Warcraft in the background, and I'm seeing detail I never saw before.)

Now, what do I do with the old 19" CRT? And oh my, I've got a desk?!

At the risk of stating the obvious, and assuming you are a windows user, have you discovered ClearType yet (and the "ClearType tuner")?

Are you on SVGA or DVI?

Have you colour-matched?

Now all you need is two, side by side....

I have ClearType on, but I'll look for the tuner. I was originally on a VGA connector (I have a switch box), but I realised that I could run a DVI connector to the monitor and use the source selection to switch back to the switch box (which I still need to share the keyboard and mouse). I've used the built in nVidia colour correction utility, but frankly, I don't think it's much cop.

I'm happy enough with just one.

Colour-matching makes a lot of difference to pictures - less obvious elsewhere. Of course, it helps ours is always under the same light, rather than switching between daylight and artificial. DVI was huge, though.

Ah, good point. I haven't enabled ClearType yet.

But I'm on the DVI cable for the main machine.

(Damn - it's not available on 2000)
