So, theoretically, if I was going to buy a theoretical iPod and theoretically get it engraved with a theretical laser, what witty thing of wit should I have immortalised on it. (One theoretical line would be my email address in an attempt to destroy all resale value, or maybe ensure its safe return in case I lost it, leaving one line for a witty and diverting message.)

ETA: Picked up one on eBay for 225, which means I won't be getting an engraved one. Fingers crossed wrt the customs lottery.

Fair use is not theft.

My iPod, My music.

No RIAA content [1]

Solid Kool-Aid

[1] if your music collection is the sort that is from record companies and artists too small to be members of the RIAA.

I like the first one.

I'm boring. Always left mine blank so that when I sell them to upgrade the buyer doesn't have to put up with my engravings.

Yeah. Past history seems to indicate I don't sell on old MP3 players though, rather keep them around for development work. Plus having acquired my Rockbox development Nano via someone foolish enough not to take the precaution of labelling theirs, I'm slightly more inclined to be paranoid.

To be honest, if I could get one elsewhere for cheaper than 280 or so, I probably wouldn't bother with the engraving.

Speaking as someone who was today forced to listen to Robbie Bloody Williams on the piped radio during a bus journey because my mini was out of battery, do you have any plans for the nano if you buy your hypothetical new one? ;-)

(No, I have no witty suggestions for engraving. If I did, they'd already be engraved on mine.)

Well, the Nano is yours any time you want it back, although I can still make use of it for testing purposes.

Actually if you fancied swapping the Nano and the Mini I could see about getting Rockbox working on the Mini as well.

I think the 'inside' thing has been overdone.

The Rockbox slogan, as much as Rockbox has one, is "make your box rock". This is so lame I can't express its lameness in words.

That to me suggests "think outside the box" as a thing to engrave.
