Insane ideas of our times
Finally succeeded in grabbing a download of an episode of 80s kids show "The Adventure Game", which I haven't seen in 20 years or so. This leads me to want to write an RPG system that explores the ideas behind why the Rangdo of Arg felt the need to import hapless adventurers to torture every week. What sinister conspiracy lurks behind the genial public face of Arg's smiling yet strangely unhelpful eccentric citizenry? And what exactly is the real purpose of the Vortex - why does it matter whether or not these unfortunate visitors have to walk the billions of miles back to earth. I'm even imagining a freeform with real BBC Micros.

Made me smile to see the program again. It was every bit as lovely as I remember. Gronda gronda and so forth.

For all you youngsters who have no idea what I'm talking about: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Adventure_Game

Especially fondness for the lovely but strangely enigmatic Charmian Gradwell

I particularly remember with fondness Chris Lever, who was played by Gandor. He was the butler.

Challenge TV showed about three episodes of TAG a while back, and we taped them (though goodness only knows where the tape is now). Rumour has it that only a few episodes still exist.

So which one did you get?

Season 4, Episode 5. With Joanno Munro, George Layton and Val Prince, whoever they might be. I have others that I'm waiting to download, but it's hit and miss whether they'll make it, I suspect.

Ah, Gronda the Aspidistra. The only television programme that I have ever applied to be on.
