Today I went into The Bookshop That In Any Sane Reality Would Be Pimping secretrebel's New Book Like a Bastard. (Please pardon the vagueness.) It wasn't on their shelves. Their stock control system tells them they have 2 copies, neither of which could they find. They kindly offered to order it in for me. I politely declined.

It's depressing that when you try to support the Good Guys, they turn out to be incompetent muppets.

Quite. I'm willing to forgive the lack of a kick-arse supply chain, but failing to do the level of stocking a corner shop is inexcusable.

In point of fact the book isn't even out yet. It comes out on the 2nd of August so everyone getting their copies early from Amazon is just spectacularly lucky. I promise you it will be on shelves in all three local bookshops and there will be a signing in at least one of them. :)

Well that might well explain it, although possibly their stock system should have told them that it's not on the shelves because it ain't officially released yet. (And also the lack of pimpage - although that section of the shop always looks as though no-one particularly cares.) One of your others was next to a DWJ though. If I were you this would have made me be irrationally delighted.

While I could come to your signing, it's not as though getting books signed by you is a terribly difficult thing for me under normal circumstances. Of course if you'd like me to be there ...
